Meet our Chef

Food has always been at the back of Chef Steve Ng’s mind. Whether it was watching with curiosity at home when family cookouts were done or watching TV shows where a cooking scene appeared, you could be sure that he wouldn’t miss any moments involving food. 

 

That attraction to the culinary world eventually led Chef Steve into his first foray of working at the Himawari Japanese Retaurant In Japan Club Kuala Lumpur. His humble beginnings allowed him to learn the ins and outs of basic Japanese cuisine which led him through other establishments as he continuously refined his skills and knowledge. 

 

According to Chef Steve, balance is key when one considers the presentation of an Omakase meal. “Planning a menu every season challenges us chefs in a positive way. I need to consider achieving a balance of not just ingredients, but also the experience throughout the course for the guests. A little too much tips the balance and you can never return from that.” 

 

Guests can expect that balance from Chef Steve as you dine with us at AO Omakase. We serve a fusion concept for our meals where you can find a marriage of East and West where flavours, textures and temperature are just right where they belong together. We look forward to introducing you to Chef Steve’s creative flair through his menu.
